Ride Report – Bizz Johnson Trail Susanville California

The Bizz Johnson Trail is a Rail to Trail conservancy project that treats riders to a beautiful 30 mile (one way) trek from Susanville CA to Westwood CA. Following the Susanville River and cutting through Lassen National Forest the trail is comprised of hard packed gravel and dirt. Crossing 12 bridges and passing through 2 tunnels the route is an epic ride that is suitable for all abilities (simply turn around when you have reached your limit.

Leaving Susanville it was 95 degrees but the heavy tree cover and steady breeze made for a comfortable ride up the canyon. Travelling from Susanville to Westwood is mostly an ascent rewarded with a descent on the return. For a fun ride in a beautiful forest look no further than the Bizz.

Wow….that Bizz Johnson Trail sounds more like a European advanture than a Western US Mtn Trail.
