Transporting that Tandem

Transporting that Tandem

With summer finally here we at TandemBicycling.com have begun the process of prepping the RV for travel. The biggest question is always “where do we put the tandem”?

To the uninitiated the easy response is “mount it on a bike rack out back”. To us, though, that is the equivalent of hanging a box filled with $5000 in cash out for the world to see. No thank you, the tandem needs to be stored inside somewhere.

In another article we covered the S&S Couplers and their easy breakdown benefit. Unfortunately, our favorite tandem does not include the couplers.

The pass through storage underneath is large enough to fit the tandem sans wheels but then we loose storage capacity. The roof is another possibility, laying the bike on its side, but then it will be exposed to weather and sun. Inside could work but then again it is already tight enough.

In the end who knows where the bike will end up. You can bet that it will receive the best seat in the house
